Chatham Road Course For NHeat Released |
|
The ModSquad - Track facts: 1.3 Miles/2.1 KM ISI released Sports Car GT (SCGT) and a lot of racers started sim racing with SCGT, from the early days of sim racing, with this "vintage" Sim. Most of the original Heat track conversions were from SCGT along with GP500. Chatham was one of the original "fantasy" tracks released with SCGT, possibly the first track ever entered for some sim racers, and Chatham is now available for Heat.
I have tried to incorporate a "vintage" feel of this classic Track/Sim with some extra goodies from the past, while still introducing some of the newer techniques used in my current Heat tracks. The sky dome, as released in Birmingham, is included in this one and really gives the feeling of "movement" ingame, and eliminates the repetitive nature of the scheme used in the original Heat method. Was able to integrate the sky into this track, given some Heat limitations that make that not possible in all tracks.
There are no penalty traps in this track and it has area specific defined surface physics with rougher grass, deep sand, and slick grass in key areas.
In my biased opinion, Chatham turned out good, real good!! I happen to like the track layout of Birmingham better, but from a pure track modeling standpoint, maybe better than Birmingham. I guess we'll see if anyone agrees with the final release. The ModSquad - Chatham |

Something in the works... no less than a scoop !! |

SpeedSims - Some simracing smalltalk of oldtime NHeat driver and Speedsims member Burnout with the winner of SouthAfrican 2009 Shelby CanAm championship winner Darryn Lobb resulted in the idea of suggesting Speedsims to put that series to NHeat as a mod. Adding some great series to the sim and promoting that series at the same time looked like a promising win-win situation for all involved.
The series' current car's designer got warmed to the idea as well and made the orginal 3D data available to get the car model into the sim as close to the real thing as possible, by still taking care of the limits such as poligon count. There never was a better way to start into making a mod :)
As of now, that mod is in the works. The basic car and cockpit modeling is done and the countless other tasks on making a mod will now be taken care about. There's no time frame set, but it looks like this mod will the quickest release ever at Speedsims - not the least thanks to the great support from Darryn who provided us with a lot of detail photos and invaluable infos
We'll try to make this one of the best Heat mods ever and a great one even by today's simracing standards. For achieving that goal, some of the best Heat modders are currently working on what parts they are known to be top experts in. Stay tuned - we'll provide additional info on the mod's progress as it comes by. SpeedSims
